☞ EAT: New Dinosaur BBQ to Open in April?
We weren't sure about the mid April opening date of the new Dinosaur Bar-B-Que on 125th Street and 12th Avenue since their move from the original space up the block has been pushed back for about six months now. The last time we saw the new Dino warehouse, there was a lot of concrete being poured on the site. Four weeks later, a new concrete side stoop is in place along with a crooked, rusty handrail that looks like it could have been there half a century ago. Other notable details include classic multi-pane windows, a leaded glass transom at the front entrance and retro, warehouse-appropriate industrial lights all around the entrances. The last photo was taken during the inclement weather a couple of days ago and shows that the interior is indeed about 90% complete at this point so folks should expect the space to open in the next couple of weeks as planned. The closest train to this location is the 1 train at 125th Street. All photos by Ulysses

On a side note, when we were in the area last week taking photographs, there were quite a few police cars in front of the original Dino space. We didn't take a photo of it but realized now that the First Lady and daughters were having lunch in Manhattanville at the time!
ReplyDeletehmm.. I just had lunch there yesterday, and asked the greeting person when they were moving. She said she didnt know but maybe July. Its hard to believe they are planning on moving in a few weeks and havent told their staff. A move like that is huge, particularly for a place like that that is using huge smokers. It doesnt happen over night, and in relative terms, a few weeks is "overnight".
ReplyDeleteJuly does seem like it's far away but they have been delayed for some time now so anything can happen.
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be at least July. They are waiting for the sewage construction project that is currently happening in front of the new location to be complete before opening. Makes sense.
ReplyDeleteI am glad...the size of the original site was just too tiny. I wonder if it will be as big as the one in Rochester? Looking forward to seeing for myself...
