☞ READ: Electronic Subway Signs on the 1 Line

A reader just sent in a photo that shows the new electronic monitors are up and running on the 1 line as of last night. The lines are always irregular during the weekends so the new signs will help travelers decide to stay underground or just run up and get a cab to make that late appointment. Progress is indeed at hand.

  1. About bloody time! When are these being rolled out across the board (2,3,A,C,D)?

  2. They're rolling them out on the IRT (numbered) lines over the coming year. They won't be on the lettered lines until after the IRT are done, although they could pull out some tricks to use existing technology like they did on those A stops in Wash Heights-- problem is they only tell you "express" or "local;" they're not getting more information like these PA/CIS systems do.

If you look carefully you can find the monitors they've put up in a lot of stations that are still wrapped in plastic tape and not activated yet.

  3. The signs are working at the 145th A/B/C/D station.
