☞ REMEMBER: Manhattan College Circa 1926
The northeast corner of 131st Street and Broadway used to be the home of the original Manhattan College before it moved to the Riverdale section of the Bronx in 1922 (which ironically is not in Manhattan). The top photo shows the abandoned college in 1926 right before it would be demolished. A vacant lot would occupy the corner for over a decade and today, a gas station sits on the original plot. Eventually, the land will return back to an educational institution since this corner will be part of the planned Columbia Manhattanville Campus. See our past post for another view of the original Manhattan College: LINK. Archival photo courtesy NYPL. Current photo by Ulysses
