☞ DRINK: Harlem Tavern Set to Open in January

A recent Crain's article provides more information detailing the Harlem Tavern set to open on the site of an old gas station at the corner of FDB/8th Avenue and 116th Street. The proprietors, who own other businesses in the city and happen to also live in Harlem, are now revealing that they plan a soft opening sometimes in January 2011. Having a winter debut will help the highly anticipated eatery work out all the major issues by the time the warm weather seasons arrive. Apparently the indoor space be 3,500 square foot altogether and the outdoor space will include an additional 3,000 square foot of alfresco dining. Read more in Crain's: LINK. Harlem Bespoke was first to break this story back in August (thanks to readers) so check out what Harlem had to say in our original post: LINK

  1. I'm excited for this to open and all, but when I look at the lot size vs. the rendering I think the artist must have had the wrong dimensions because I don't see how they can fit 8 rows of tables between the fence and the restaurant on the outdoor terrace. Anyway, not to pick, it's just funny!

I hope this succeeds and comes in at a reasonable price point - I do think it's a creative use of space. As I said before, it looks like a fairly economical use of space since they are just converting the existing building and then landscaping the lot in front of it.
