☞ REVIVE: Local Gardens Receive New Rules
The New York Times reports that new protective rules will be set in place for community gardens by next month. Since the previous agreement with the state attorney general's office expires this week, many who cultivate the city's 282 gardens were unsure of their future. Basically the new rules state that gardens will be preserved if they are kept in good condition, operate 20 hours each week and are open to the public. Otherwise, these city-owned properties could be sold off to developers. Read more in the New York Times: LINK. The above photo shows one of the larger Harlem community gardens at West 126th Street, just east of St. Nicholas Avenue.

Great news! Did the recent garden tour in Harlem and they are wonderful places to escape for a couple of hours.
