☞ REVIVE: Gateway Condo Towers Revealed

Another debut in South Harlem this week included the towers over at the Gateway Condominiums on FDB/8th Avenue, between 112th and 113th Street. Netting had been covering the upper additions of the stalled, 85-unit project that recently picked up this summer, and they apparently were coming down yesterday. We noticed that the glass was being installed in the center penthouse, and the adjacent units were made visible for the first time. The original sketch of the condo development only had white areas to indicate the additions but yellow brick with green cornices (matching the original lower structures) seem to be the final color scheme. The building is scheduled to finish up by the middle of 2011 and there doesn't seem to be any sales activity as of yet. Read more details in our past post: LINK. Photo by Ulysses

  1. Interesting. I guess we'll have to wait for the full view to draw any conclusions, but it's probably a plus that they made the effort to match it up more closely with the lower building elements.

Does anyone know if they installed "thru" elevator shafts in one or more of the renovated structures -- or are the upper levels only accessible from the entrance of the entirely new lower structure? Just something I've wondered about in watching this progress...

  2. there will be two elevators - the original elevator will service floors one thru five and the new elevator will service the entire building
