☞ READ: Crowd Rally for East Harlem Bike Lanes

A group of advocates gathered over 2,500 hand-written letters to urge City Hall to finish the bicycle lane project that abruptly ended in June. The Transportation Department had many in East Harlem frustrated this past summer when the new physically separated bike lanes that would go all the way down to Houston Street suddenly ended at 34th Street in midtown.  East Harlem has been noted in the past to have a high amount of cyclist and the many who have recently petitioned are skeptical of the city's commitment to making sure that the promised lane project will continue in 2011.  Read more details in today's New York Times: LINK
