☞ EAT: La Fonda Mexican Restaurant
There's a lot of Mexican eateries in East Harlem these days and we alway stop by La Fonda Mexican when walking around the neighborhood. The restaurant itself is quite interesting since it is located in a former retro diner space at 1634 Lexington Avenue, between 103rd and 104th Street and serves up Mexican alongside American fare such as burgers. Food wise, everything is reliable, on the cheap side and also includes more exotic ingredients such as chopped, crispy fried pigs ears. Tacos are also wrapped in a paper cone which is quite different from the other Mexican restaurants in the area. It's not a big space but seating is consistently available and lunch is always a pocket friendly affair.
