A reliable inside tip confirmed that Lido was arriving by the end of the month at the old Frizzante space on FDB/8th Avenue and it looks like things are moving along quickly. There was a lot of activity on Saturday (lower photo) with a work crew out front dismantling the old awnings and by Sunday morning, a new store front had appeared. Blue is the the apparent new color for the Italian restaurant at the corner of 117th Street and a sign on the roll-down gate has announced that February 1st is the opening day. The interior will reportedly have a makeover so that part of the renovations has yet to be seen.
There was a comment about the Frankie's empire in the E.V. in a previous Lido post; I happened to eat at Little Frankie's this past weekend and it was great on all counts - food, service, price, decor. If the Lido crew can do anything even remotely similar they won't have a problem at all. I implore them (if they happen to read this) to follow their lead.
