☞ INTRODUCING: Silver Music in West Harlem

We noticed several months back that the long dormant basement retail space at 45 Tiemann (between Broadway and Riverside Drive) had some sort of activity happening in it once more.  Upon closer inspection, the Silver Music studio became visible and we were curious to what it was all about. It turns out that professionally trained cellist Ellen Silver, who is also a former elementary school teacher, opened up the studio to teach toddlers classic string instruments along with piano in a section of the Manhattanville residential neighborhood that is known to have many classically trained musicians.  Those familiar with this part of town know that the Manhattan School of Music is just a block south and many young students can be seen heading towards the subway station rolling their instrument cases on any given day.  Adult classes are apparently coming soon but for those who want to get lessons started for their toddler, check out the studio's website for more details on how to get started: www.silvermusic.org

  1. Bravo! Slowly, but surely, the fine arts are infiltrating Harlem. Let's hope it's a trend that continues!
