☞ REMEMBER: Jackie Robinson at Harlem YMCA
The top photo shows baseball great Jackie Robinson helping out at the Harlem YMCA circa 1948 and more archival images alongside memorabilia will be coming soon to the new Jackie Robinson Museum. Unfortunately, it will not be in Harlem. Even though Mr. Robinson has a Park in Harlem named after him and a youth center at the landmark YMCA, the planned museum will open all the way downtown on Varick Street (at the intersection of Canal). We were heading down towards Tribeca one weekend and got out at the station by the Metropolitan College of New York and noticed that the lower floors had the museum artwork up. There's a lot of commercial space within the many new constructions uptown to have housed this museum and it's unfortunate that the location chosen was all the way downtown. Anyways, here's the website for the Jackie Robinson Museum for those who are interested in learning more: LINK
