☞ INTRODUCING: Wells Fargo Arrives in Harlem
Wells Fargo merged with Wachovia recently and it looks like the bank will be making their presence known in New York City. As of yesterday, all of the original Wachovia signage at the ground floor of 143 Lenox Avenue and 117th had been taken down and replaced by the new yellow and red Wells Fargo logo. There's a huge Wells Fargo presence on the west coast since the company headquarters is in San Francisco but now it looks like the east coast will be seeing more of branches appearing in 2011. We haven't seen any other branches in the city yet that have converted so its interesting to see that the one in Harlem is one of the first to switch over.

Given that Wells Fargo is the only bank lending on gut renovations of Harlem Brownstones, this makes a lot of sense. They've made it possible for homeowners to fix up the neighborhood (as opposed to commercial real estate developers).
