☞ READ: Development for Apollo Adjacent Lot

The severely sad, open lot that sits next door to the Apollo Theater might be getting a new 3-level building placed up on site according to the Wall Street Journal article (Apollo in Talks to Expand) published today: LINK.  We didn't know too much about the previous building but it apparently housed the original Showman's jazz club but burned down back in 1985.  So now over 25 years later, the same company which built the big Harlem USA complex on 125th Street has been reviewing plans to finally fill in the empty parcel of land next to the iconic theater.  If the Apollo confirms to rent out the third floor of the new building for office use, construction could possibly start in the next six months. Another option would also be for a major retailer to step in and claim the lower floors to get everything started.  This should be an interesting year for 125th Street if everything falls into place.

  1. Hopefully, The Apollo just uses the space for a museum of some sort. 125th is way too much like a strip mall as it is already.
