☞ REMEMBER: Lonnie & Jimi Circa 1968
We went digging for more details on the 50 year career of the Prince of Harlem and found out that the above album cover photo from the Together was taken at Small's Paradise. Saxophonist Lonnie Youngblood previously revealed that he rotated performance in over 35 clubs back in the day and thus gained his title as the heir of Harlem. Mr. Youngblood recalls in a 1996 interview that he used to work Small's Paradise at 138th and ACP/7th Avenue when Jimi Hendrix joined on stage for a jam session: LINK. Lonnie Youngblood will apparently turn 70 this year but you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at his upcoming performance flyers. Get tickets while you still can to next weeks concert at the Dwyer: LINK. For those not familiar with the fate of Small's Paradise, check out our past post: LINK. Click on photo to enlarge.
