☞ SEE: Around Harlem this Weekend





Saturday-Sunday, April 15th-17th, Hanami in Harlem.  Check out the cherry tree blossoms which are starting to peak as of Friday.  Sakura Park is the historic one uptown that the Japanese donated a few trees a century ago in West Harlem: LINK.  The largest blossoming grove uptown is on the East Harlem side of Central Park at the Conservatory Gardens by 105th Street which blooms a bit later but these are apparently crabapple trees: LINK

Friday-Saturday, April 15th-16th, 7:30 PM, E-Moves at Harlem Stage, the Gatehouse, 150 Convent Avenue at 135th Street. Harlem Stage's critically acclaimed dance series is now in its 12th season, and will have its last weekend run. More details and $20 online tickets at the Harlem Stage site: LINK

Friday-Saturday, April 16th, Handstrung Trunk Show at the Studio Museum store, 144 West 125th Street,  12:20 AM-6:00 PM on Saturday, Noon-6:00 PM on Sunday.  Check out Harlem jewelry designer Arleen Geller's creations at this 2 day sales event: LINK

Saturday, April 16th, New York Unicycle Club at Grant's Tomb, 520 Riverside Drive at 122nd Street. All levels welcome to this unique monthly event of New Yorks City unicycle enthusiast: LINK

Sunday, April 17th, 1:00 PM, Walking Tour of Jewish Harlem, meets at State Office Building Plaza, 125th Street and ACP/7th Avenue.  Harlem was once the third largest Jewish settlement in the world with department stores, houses of worship, and famous families. Walking Tours last from 2 to 2 1/2 hours. No reservations are needed. Fee is $15 per person; $12 for seniors 62+: LINK

Sunday, April 17th, 7:30PM, Comedy Covo at the Upstairs Lounge at Covo, 701 West 135th Street and 12th Avenue.  The FREE monthly comedy show with some of NYC's best comedians in an old West Harlem train station. Hosted by NYC comedian William Mullin featuring comics from Comedy Central, VH1, and HBO. Headliners this Sunday include Nancy Witter, Justin McClure, Calvin Cato accompanied with DJ music and Happy Hour specials. For more on directions: LINK
