☞ WALK: Bike Run on Adam Clayton Powell Blvd

We always seem to get caught up in trying to cross the street during one of the major marathons uptown.  Be prepared to wait if you are trying to get past ACP/7th Avenue this morning since there are not many pauses to let pedestrians cross. Hopefully it will be over by early afternoon.

  1. yeah, not many pauses for buses carrying a sainted mother of a certain age and her adorable son to church, either. Somehow doubt it would be this cavalier on E 69th Street as it is on 116.

  2. Sanou's Mum ... well, it doesn't go on E. 69th, but it does go straight up Sixth Ave from Battery Park to Central Park and it's definitely the same issue throughout, regardless of neighborhood.

I had a different perspective: I rode in the event as the "Official Tweeter," so I found it very cool that 32,000 people on bikes rode right through my neighborhood. And I tweeted about Harlem's Gospel for Teens performing for the riders on 125th Street.

But I know it's a nuisance to be on the other end. Sorry about that, and thanks for your patience!

  3. I love bikes. I'm all for bikes. Seriously. But it is frustrating to be on public transport at a major crosstown street and have it not work efficiently especially when one is meant to be someplace at a specific time.

  4. I couldn't get to the West Side Highway and there were no police anywhere to be seen to help maintain any type of traffic flow. A mjaor fail for the NYPD.

  5. I was on the ride too... we had to stop throughout the tour (especially in Manhattan) to let cross traffic across, including on ACP.
