☞ SEE: The Reel Harlem Film Festival 2011


This weeks's free outdoor movie screening of the 10th Annual Real Harlem historic park film festival will be held within Jackie Robinson Park at the bandshell by 148th Street and Bradhurst Avenue.

Wedenesday, July 13th, 8:30 PM, From Mambo to Hip Hop at Jackie Robinson Park.  The film From Mambo to Hip Hop is a 2006 documentary that delivers insight into the post war jazz and mambo era and traces the evolution of music from salsa to disco to hip-hop.

Thursday, July 14th, 8:30 PM, When the Drum is Beating at Jackie Robinson Park. Filmmaker Whitney Dow will be on hand to introduce When the Drums is Beating which explores Haiti's complex past and present  through the music of 62 year old Septentrional, the countries oldest and best-known band.
