☞ EAT: Amy Ruth's Switches It Up

Amy Ruth's on West 116th Street between Lenox and ACP/7th Avenue has had a classic red awning up for quite some time now but it seems that the southern restaurant had switched things up a bit as of late. While many of the newer Harlem restaurants are adopting the red color scheme, it now appears that this iconic eatery has decided to break away from the current trend.  Current photo after the jump.

Walking by the storefront last week, we noticed that something new had definitely arrived out front and decidedly different at that.  So apparently orange is now the new direction which matches some of the shops on Lenox Avenue's historic district a block away but stands out from newcomers such as the Red Rooster, the Harlem Tavern and Cedric.  We kind of miss the different height variations of the original awning (which was quite unique) but the new one is definitely a much fresher addition. www.AmyRuthsHarlem.com

  2. Now, if they would just spruce up that upstairs space! I know Amy Ruth's is not meant to be a fancy restaurant, but the upstairs looks like someone's unfinished basement. I think they have the best fried chicken in Harlem, though.
