☞ INTRODUCING: East Harlem Giglio 2011
Sunday, August 14th, 1:30 PM, First lift and Dancing of the Giglio di Sant'Antonio, Pleasant Avenue between East 114th and 116th Street. The lifting of the 5-story tall Gigli at the annual Giglio di San'Antonia Feast is our top culture pick for a glimpse of what East Harlem's Italian neighborhood used to look like. This festival features Italians who have returned to the old neighborhood in order to take turns lifting a massive monument down Pleasant Avenue but also includes food vendors and a small carnival with rides for the kids.
