An article at WNYC reports on the official opening of the National Dance Institute in Harlem this past Tuesday which marks a remarkable milestone for the 40-year-old organization. Securing a permanent home at the adaptive reuse condo building known as PS90, the institute has basically located a campus for its art education programs at a formerly abandoned public school. Founder Jacques D'amboise rallied supporters during even difficult financial times and now has been able to renovate the available space which includes a 175-seat theater alongside studios for $11.5 million at the West 148th Street building. NDI currently teaches over 5,000 younger students in ballet or modern dance at 31 schools and high school classes will now be added as a result of the expanding into PS90. Read more at WNYC: LINK
