☞ REMEMBER: 1572 Lexington circa 1920

One of the more moody archival photos out there shows the corner of East 100th Street and Lexington Avenue circa 1920.  All the tenement buildings in the East Harlem neighborhood was intact at this point in time and the area would primarily be the largest little Italy in Manhattan at the time.  The lower photo show the corner building today which has still stands although its neighbors appear to community gardens at this point in time.  East Harlem's Lexington Avenue corridor became El Barrio after the 1940s when the Italian community started to move out of the neighborhood.

  1. Ulysses,

I envy you folks who know enough about Harlem to be able to look through the Museum of NYC site and recognize these stunning buildings. I am so new in Harlem, It take me SO much time to place them...Bravo, Ulysses !
