☞ ARCHITECTURE: Modern on West 112th Street

Another modernist townhouse in Harlem can be found between FDB/8th and ACP/7th Avenue between a row of classic brownstones.  The block itself has a mash of different types of architecture so something new looking is not the worse fate for what probably was an open lot at some point in the past couple of decades.  This building is definitely not on the contextual end of the spectrum but at least there is some interest in the play of dimension and a new interpretation of the classic oriel.  It's not one of our favorites but at least it is not as clinical as some that have been built uptown in the recent past.

  1. Well, To each his/her own....But I think this is hideous ! Why do some architects show "modern" in such a unattractive sterile way ?

Looks like an out patient clinic !!

  2. If nothing else, at least the neighboring window lines are respected.
