An old photo from circa 1932 shows an old lumber yard building that used to stand on the corner of West 154th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. There was also a house on the next lot over but both buildings no longer stand today and a large public housing complex has taken over this corner of West Harlem.

I see from the signage, sash, doors, trim, sheet… this business may have been the source of some of the interior wooden detail work we see in Harlem homes today. Sad to know that where once a business operated, now sits a public housing project.
