Harlem's Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture has an extensive collection of historic photos and the above image which features a couple in the early 20th century provides a romantic portrait for Valentine's Day. A contrast in color of the young lady's dress and the darker shade of the gentlemen's suit provide an interesting composition that also include the graphic element of the trees. Even for a casual event such as a nature walk, this couple still has the requisite dress of the day which included distinguished hats for both sexes and longer gloves for the more feminine looks.
