☞ REMEMBER: The Train Yard circa 1890

A photo from 1890 shows a battalion of discarded trains in a yard over by the Harlem River.  Could these possibly have been steam engine trains being replaced by more modern models?  An elevated track can be seen in the background with a newer train riding the rail.  Another notable landmark is the factory in the background which has signage spelling out Kroeger out front.

  1. this view is looking southeast at the MacComb's Dam bridge, from Manhattan by, or just north of, the Polo Grounds. The train running is heading northbound.
