☞ REMEMBER: 5th and 112th circa 1917

A photo from 1917 shows a popular bakery and children crowding around the storefront at what used to be1369 Fifth Avenue.  The Grade A Baking Co. would have been a neighborhood institution during a time when such shops were essential in each neighborhood and it appears they were also a favorite local hangout.  Bakeries are coming back in a small way these days but the buildings shown in the photo no longer exists as pictured since this area is now one of the Urban Renew super blocks built in the mid century.
