East Harlem Cafe has been in the news this month since the eatery on Lexington and 104th Street has tried to raise $10,000 in 30 days so that it can
stay open expand. It's another crowdsourcing effort to raise money via public donation but on half the money has been raised at this point and there is 4 days to go. Those who want to contribute should check out the indiegogo site for more details:

I don't think that this fundraising effort is so that they can stay open, but instead it's to expand their kitchen. "...The café needs kitchen storage, supplies and food prep equipment to provide healthier options." The word they use is "expand" in the emails I've been getting from them. Nonetheless, still seems like a good use of the money. I've been there several times and like the vibe there.
