The proposed new building for the adjacent lot by the Apollo may not look like much now but progress does seem to be happening behind the scenes. The media reported back in February that anchor tenant Red Lobster had secured the space for the development called Harlem USA II at 261-267 West 125th Street but there has not been any construction on the empty lot yet.
Anyone that has witness development on West 125th Street in the past 10 years will tell you that things are rather hit or miss and the blue plywood has yet to come up around this site. At this week's community board meeting, local liquor license applications were reviewed and Red Lobster was on the list for CB10's monthly meeting. Even though construction has not started up yet, it appear that the major seafood chain is serious about preparing to be fully operational the minute the building finally finishes up.
