☞ WALK: Manhattanville Beyond the Viaduct
When we reported on the opening of Kura Kuma Coffee in Manhattanville, we received a message that the new cafe was actually within Morningside Heights. The old town of Manhattanville is part of West Harlem and many might be surprised to hear that the industrial viaduct portion on 125th Street is not the only area it entails. The above government map shows that the south border begins at 122nd Street and is adjacent to Morningside Heights. Note Grant's Tomb is actually in Manhattanville and LaSalle Street is definitely within the perimeters. At the north border is 135th Street and the area around St. Nicholas Park makes up the eastern division before the transition to Central Harlem. Click on map to enlarge.

Andrew Dolkart's excellent architectural history of Morningside Heights also has the boundary between the two at 122.
