Sunday, September 23rd, 3:00PM, The Harlem Chamber Players Fall Opening Concert, 521 West 126th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam. The Harlem Chamber Players will open their 2012-2013 season with a concert of great music featuring
Artistic Director and clarinetist Liz Player, pianist Richard Alston, violinists Joyce Hammann and Charlene Bishop, violist Amadi Azikiwe and cellist Lawrence Zoernig.
Music will include Prokofievs' Overture on Hebrew Themes, Shostakovich's Piano Trio No.2 and the great Piano Quintet Opus 44 by Robert Schumann.
Journalist, historian and author Eric K. Washington will host the concert followed by an after concert party/fundraiser at Janet Rodriguez' So Harlem Creative Outlet just down the street. Tickets are $15-$10 for Seniors/Students available at the door the day of

Thank God someone recognizes that there is an audience for classical in Harlem and it's not all rapp, hiphop and gospel! More, please!
ReplyDeleteListen to Terrance McKnight on WQXR. He does a lovely job blending classical, gospel and jazz on his Saturday night show. He has hosted some of the Harlem Chamber Players performances, and he lives in Harlem!
