☞ REVIVE: Majestic Ruins of Morningside Park
Condos have been selling along Morningside Park in the past couple of years but this fact has still not inspired a couple of negligent landlords to fix up their properties. The top photo shows the grand prewar building on 92 Morningside Avenue at West 122nd Street that has had a couple of fires in the past few years but absolutely no rehabilitation. In the meantime, the new construction called 88 Morningside across the street has basically sold out at market rate even though some of units faces the ruins.
At the lower photo, one can see the intact facade of 272-278 Manhattan Avenue which is also a mystery in itself. This majestic prewar by West 111th Street has had cinder blocks in the windows as long as we an remember and a new luxury development is now under construction the next block down: LINK. Unfortunately these buildings are not official landmarks so the government can not really go after the owners to fix them up.
