☞ REVIVE: New Eatery Arriving on 145th Street
We walked by the old townhouse restaurant that sold last year on 145th Street and noticed that there appears to be construction going on inside. Some might remember that number 458 West 145th Street used to be a restaurant called Baton Rouge which shuttered a few years back and the house finally exchanged hands in recent months.
The inside scoop is that the owner of a somewhat popular Harlem restaurant is opening a new restaurant further north on this section of Hamilton Heights. Looking at the permits on the doors, one can see that new plumbing, kitchen ventilation and wall partitions have been planned for the space that is listed as an eating and drinking establishment. Beyond those facts, we have not heard much else on the concept of the new business.

but if it is the Settepani people, for the love of god, we're at Italian saturation overload up here! Thai, Indian, Japanese, anything else!!!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely won't be Italian based on the owner's track record.
ReplyDeleteI also hope it's not another French Bistro..
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with alec.
We know it's the owner of Cafe' Latte & very much looking forward to this :)
ReplyDeleteActually, we could use a French bistro on 145th Street -- there aren't any French restaurants up here. Agreed that Italian is not so needed though...
ReplyDeleteAlso, this location opened in late 2008 as a restaurant/private club called Oh, and then closed in 2009.
I guess i'd just be personally more excited with something along the lines of Indian/Thai/Vietnamese. There is just a really jarring lack of decent Asian places North of 125th.
ReplyDeleteThe owner of Café Latte has shown talent in creating an establishment that is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood, not just in menu offerings for all times of the day but also creative design and use of space. The residents of West 145th should be excited to expect a similar great all round neighborhood spot, and maybe even better as I’m sure they bring much experience and ideas from the Lower Lenox location.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, ANYTHING would be good, but not so high end, please. Just a decent restaurant. Harlem Public has a great recipe for success. We need something similar on 145th Street.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to report that I've been told there is an Indian restaurant going in on Amsterdam between 138 and 139th.
ReplyDeletewhere is this info from?
DeleteCafé Latté's own Yelp description says "Coffee & Tea, Italian, Sandwiches" so unless they have other establishments that serve a different menu...
ReplyDeleteGREAT NEWS about that Indian restaurant though/
It's funny, South Harlem is getting saturated with French Restaurants (Maison Harlem, Cedric, Chez Luccienne & 2 others in the works around 120th and Lenox. Hamilton Heights just seem to get more Italian..
