☞ REMEMBER: Cycle Riding on Lenox c. 1898

A photo taken over a century ago by Joseph Byron shows the Dixon family taking a peaceful ride on upper Lenox.  Harlem would have been one of the most attractive new neighborhoods in Manhattan at the time since farmland was being developed into rows of brownstones and subway station were soon to arrive at every convenient corner of the neighborhood.  This corner by 128th Street still has many of the buildings in the photo intact but traffic is definitely more brisk these days.
