A couple of Bespoke readers reported that the abandoned apartment building at 92 Morningside Avenue is seeing some action these days. This ornate building at the corner of 122nd Street has had major issues since a fire cleared out residents
several years back over a decade ago and it is surprising the owners have not sold or renovated the property since it sits right across from Morningside Park. Signs out front of the construction site has the crew listed as part of Townhouse Builders which might indicate a renovation is at hand and not a demolition. An ornate cornice at top was torn down when the fire damaged the building initially so lets hope at least a more basic one gets constructed to finally complete this building.
Great to see this handsome building being restored, it is a real beauty. It is also a testament to century old construction that this structure survived neglect, I doubt modern construction would have fared so well.
