Thursday, May 16th, 6:30 PM, Screening and Discussion of Versailles ’73: American Runway Revolution, at the Museum of the City of New York, 1220 Fifth Avenue, by 103rd Street The Museum of the City of New York, which recently opened the vibrant exhibition Stephen Burrows: When Fashion Danced, will host a screening of the new documentary film, “Versailles ’73: American Runway Revolution” with Stephen Burrows as the key speaker. A panel of models and experts will then discuss the film, which chronicles the events leading up to the iconic 1973 fashion showdown at the Chateau de Versailles between American and French designers, nicknamed the “Battle of Versailles.”
The film recounts the fierce competition that emerged between such lions of French haute couture as Yves St. Laurent, Christian Dior and Emanuel Ungaro, and American designers Stephen Burrows, Bill Blass, Oscar de la Renta, Anne Klein and Halston.
