☞ BESPOKE: Old is Old Again at The Grange
The latest word at The Grange pub on Amsterdam at 141st Street is that Thursday will be the opening night and we were able to get a tour of the interior courtesy of the local artisans that have been creating an amazing vintage feel to the space. Benjamin Kay lives in South Harlem and has been renovating establishments such as the Corner Social in recent years. The Grange in Hamilton Heights is the craftsman's latest venture.
As far as inspiration goes, this new Hamilton Heights bar has the feel of an old 19th century barn with many of pieces on the interior having been reclaimed to provide that particular aesthetic. An old hay catcher has been converted into a lamp and the industrial enameled hanging lamps are also antiques. Crackle paint finishes accent all of the woodwork and the wide, white oak plank floors have a distressed, painted white finish. All of the plaster walls have glaze on them to look weathered which accents nicely with the exposed brick walls.
As far as the antique gold window signage is concerned, folks should check out The Grange Facebook site to see the final look of that bespoke detail: LINK

I just LOVE it !! Can't wait to see it !! Wonderful touches of old and new ! Now if the food matches the atmosphere..that would be the best news !!
ReplyDeleteCool trend. Whoever designed Harlem Shake created something that looks like it's been there for 50 years, too.
ReplyDeleteSo much creativity, I wish them a well deserved success.
