We snapped a photo of some of the billboards for the show Boardwalk Empire that have been going up all over Harlem which peaked our interest. The notable cable program has been covering the prohibition years for the past few seasons in Atlantic City but now will have some of the setting switched over to Harlem in 1924. This would make sense since Harlem is probably more famous in the public eye for the bootleg, roaring Jazz Age years so it will interesting to see how the series portrays uptown starting in September.
The show has actually been filming around Harlem over the years but the neighborhood has not been given recognition until now. Let's hope that there is some historical accuracy also since the neighborhood was pretty diverse still at that point in time and the majority of the big clubs were actually mafia owned until the 1930s.
