☞ BESPOKE: Old Harlem Glamour on Televison

We mentioned that the cable show Boardwalk Empire will feature a Harlem storyline this fall and the characters are now bringing some much needed Jazz Era glamour to the show.  Most of the females on the series about gangsters in Atlantic City seem to be somewhat coarse in character but Daughter Maitland of Harlem appears to have brought some refinery to the cast.

The jazz protege of the Harlem gang leader has the "elevated" looks of black elite of the period and was dressed in what looked like a Poiret coat of the previous decade.  Boardwalk Empire has a pretty even and somewhat tedious plot lines that only sees some action at the last  10 minutes of the show but the Harlem element has made it a bit more interesting this season.
