The huge lot at 5-15 West 125th Street has been stalled for several years now and construction has apparently started up again. This massive lot just west of Fifth Avenue had plans for being a hotel many years ago then that development turned into a commercial building. Based on a reader's tip received over the weekend, the construction team on site mentioned that the address will now be 3 floors of retail on the lower level and 4 stories of rental apartments. Currently new digging machines are now on the site and several more pilasters have been added to the grounds.
Signs out front mention a 2014 finish date which seems pretty ambitious since it has been up since the beginning of 2013 but all activities had been stalled because of the discovery of a river that is flowing beneath the said site. These underground rivers are pretty common uptown and developments that do not factory them in will definitely meet some major delays in resolving how to work around them.
