The New York Times discusses a trend in low rise buildings that has been going on for some time since the interest in brownstone neighborhoods have surfaced in the past few years. There is a generation of buyers and renters who would rather live on the fifth floor of a walk-up building than to have a full service building. High ceilings and historic details along with a good workout apparently are some of the reasons mentioned. Sales are up 64 percent in the past year for walk-ups in comparison to 22 percent for full service buildings: LINK
