☞ LISTEN: Harlem Talks About Pedestrian Safety
Traffic calming measures and bike lanes have been proposed for Morningside Avenue but Community Board 10 has been blocking the efforts of the DOT to make this happen. A group of local residents have put together their concerns on the above video which explains the issue further. Is Harlem too car centric to change for the safety of pedestrians? The new mayor has made pedestrian casualties an initiative for the greater New York City so Harlem will have to catch up at some point.
There is also an online petition for those who want to help send a message to the local government on this issue. So far 312 signatures have been collected with a goal of 1,000 supporters: LINK
