REMEMBER: 125TH AND 12TH AVENUE CIRCA 1941
An old photo from around 1941 shows the viaduct intersection at 12th Avenue and 125th Street. This used to be a gas station for many years but the distinct triangle wedge-shape building was sealed up somewhere in the 70s and the third version of the Cotton Club in Harlem arrived. The first two clubs were passed down from the same ownership but this more modern day incarnation is only related by name. We think the windows made the original space look more inviting but the current tourist attraction probably just needs a dimly lit interior for its lounge shows.

I remember the gas station being there in the mid - late 1960's
ReplyDeleteAnyone know who owns the Chevy Suburban? I have been looking for one of this vintage and there was on the lot a few months ago that was a total wreck but the owner wouldn't sell.
