SEE: HARLEM IN SPRING BLOOM

It has been a very cold and inconsistent Spring for 2014 but those flowering trees are just starting to bloom. Below are some of the top places uptown to check out the awakening of nature.

The Conservatory Garden, Fifth Avenue at 105th Street.  The only formal garden in Central Park is also one of the most breathtaking in the city.  The main spring event will be the massive rows of crabapple trees blooming in the main court but the side gardens can also hold their own in the spring spectacle.

The Harlem Meer, East of Lenox at 110th Street.  Central Park North's charming Meer has a great victorian boathouse, flowering trees and a grand willow that greets a sandy shore.

Sakura Park, 122nd Street and Riverside Drive.  This small park by Grant's Tomb has a handful of cherry trees donated by the people of Japan over a century ago and is a good excuse to check out one of Harlem's great landmarks.

West Harlem Piers, 125th Street and 12th Avenue.  Harlem's newest waterfront park has piers to walk on and also a small forest of newly planted trees.
