READ: A 99-YEAR LEASE SIGNED ON 125TH STREET
The Bargain World set of shops at 4-14 West 125th Street will soon be vacated and those spaces will be combined into 100 foot of store frontage based on a 99-year lease that was just signed. A retail operator who apparently believes in the longevity of 125th Street's renewal will be leasing the entire 30,000-square-foot building just west of Fifth Avenue but the new anchor tenant has not been revealed. Does anyone know which out-of-town retailer will be arriving soon at this corner of 125th Street? More in the Real Deal: LINK

Good - I presume this means that these facades will be preserved for now. The retail floor could use some re-design but otherwise the buildings are very nice and well worth preserving.
ReplyDeletePlease no bank or drugstore ..,
ReplyDeleteIt would be too big for a bank or a drugstore since they are combining the spaces.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope - the whole building is too big but there are some 9,000 square foot drugstores in Manhattan, but there are so many drugstores along 125th I don't see a large one coming in! Bed bath & beyond would fill a huge need, but they always take larger multi-level spaces
ReplyDeleteMost likely a Target or Walmart...
ReplyDeleteit's too easy. i can't believe someone didn't beat me to it - how about a trader joe's?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the only thing that moves into 125th Street are big box chains. So that is what I'd expect.
ReplyDeleteSince the Pathmark might be closing it's 125th & Lexington location, they might interested for it's 30,000 square foot space!!!
ReplyDeleteHome Depot maybe??
ReplyDeletePlease no cheap furniture store and no dollar store! Am I the only one?
ReplyDeleteI have my heart set on a dollar store with a "we buy gold" section...
ReplyDeleteI think Target is unlikely since they are already in East Harlem, and there was a lot of public protest when WalMart attempted to move into Brooklyn so I pray it's not them and their anti-worker ways. Trader Joes, Bed Bath & Beyond or another grocery store would be great!
ReplyDeleteVery intriguing!
PLEASE BE A TRADER JOE'S! PLEASE, PLEASE!
ReplyDeleteContainer Store?
ReplyDeleteK-Mart
ReplyDeleteIsn't K-Mart going out of business? After all their battles with Martha Stewart? Container Store - too narrow. I'm voting for Bed Bath & Beyond or a Trader Joes!
