ARCHITECTURE: STRIVERS ROW ARCHED ENTRANCE
Most of the Strivers Row townhouses up by 139th Street pretty much have the typical entrances to them but we just noticed a different design element at one of the homes on a recent trip. The reddish brick buildings on the north side of the street between 7th and 8th Avenue designed by McKim, Mead and White all look the same but one house at center has an arched entranceway instead of a stoop. This portico is also quite unique since the shaded entrance porch which has been formed within the ground floor of the facade is something quite rare for an individual home in Manhattan.

That's a nice touch. It's really lovely.
