REVIVE: ACTIVITY AT RENAISSANCE BALLROOM SITE
UPDATE: A tip came in that the site is serving as construction storage for the Lafayette development further down 7th. It has been quite a long time since anything but demolition has been happening over by the Renaissance Ballroom site at 7th Avenue and 138th Street but something just might be happening soon. This iconic currently church-owned property was formerly one of Harlem's grandest destinations for African-American social events such as debutante balls and weddings but has been left to decay over the past few decades. After an attempted landmark ruling that was blocked by some prominent members of the community, plans for an 18-story condo had been revealed but never materialized. Does anyone know What is going on with the site currently?
