SHOP: A SIDEWALK GARDEN ON FIFTH AVENUE
Street vendors in Harlem are some of the most creative ones in the city and we were pleasantly surprised with one aspiring florists over by Fifth Avenue this past week. Walking past the block just south of 125th Street, a merchant has set up shop by the empty lot at that corner and has the sidewalks covered in plants. This little strip of sidewalk was quickly transformed into an urban oasis and shows how a little greenery can soften the city's concrete jungle. We are not sure if folks really buy plants from the street like this but it does looks quite amazing especially since the weather has been so fair this September.
