REMEMBER: AN INDUSTRIAL HARLEM CIRCA 1932
Who can guess this the vantage point of this industrial section of Harlem circa 1932? Many of the buildings are gone today but in the background lies one major clue. Those who really know Harlem history will also make an assumption based on the mode of transportation shown within the image.
ANSWER: As can be seen in the below photo taken a couple of years ago, this was the corner of 125th Street and 12th Avenue but looks quite different today since Columbia University is building their Manhattanville campus here. All of the buildings in the photo have been mostly demolished now except the Studebaker address which will remain as campus office space.
