REVIVE: CHIMNEYS AT THE CORN EXCHANGE
One of our favorite restoration stories since we started the blog several years ago is that of the Corn Exchange Building on East 125th Street. After several decades of local politics and neglect, a proper developer has come along to rebuild the New York City landmark which only had 2 levels until recently. The roof was demolished because of a fire in the 90s and then 3 more floors just a few years back had been razed because of perceived structural issues by the city but now all has been replaced along with the newly finished chimneys. Windows, various cornices and shingles are the only elements now needed to complete the facade. This also proves the point that any building can be restored if the right partners are involved. Read more about the history of this landmark by Park Avenue in our past post which includes a final rendering of the completed project: LINK
