SHOP: AN ANCHOR TENANT FOR 240 MANHATTAN?

The new high rise construction at 240 Manhattan Avenue now apparently has an anchor tenant for the commercial space located at the corner of 110th Street.  Based on a tip we received, Starbucks will be arriving on this south border of Central Harlem if all goes through.   We have read recent articles on how the chain has been struggling with rising rents in the city but Harlem seems to be the next area planned for expansion since this will be the second new location to arrive this year.  Harlem already has three Starbucks but all of them arrived uptown well over 6 years ago or so.

  4. There are so many great local coffee shops that would be perfect for this spectacular location (Joe, Aroma, Double Dutch, Stumptown, etc). But I'm sure it's all about getting the highest rent possible, and that always means Starbucks, Duane Reade, or Chase.
